Gameplay-wise, Castaway Paradise is basically an endless cycle of planting crops and then doing other things while you wait for timers to run down, over and over again, which inevitably grows repetitive. You can complete quests, sell the crops you’ve grown, play the stock market, and so on, all of which has the added benefit of keeping you busy. It’s here that Castaway Paradise gives away its free-to-play origins.įortunately, there are lots of ways to earn gems. But you also need dough, in the form of gems, in order to do just about anything, from buying furniture for your home to planting seeds. You advance through the game by levelling up, thereby unlocking new items and content. There’s a menu screen where you can see all of your active tasks, review your inventory, and so on. As soon as you wash ashore, covered in seaweed that cleverly conceals your sex until you’re ready to disclose it, you’re put to work clearing litter, picking apples, sowing seeds, and watering plants. Your new friends are cordial but demanding hosts. Characters in Castaway Paradise are distinctive and well-formed, while the dialogue is solid, and even funny at times. These include Viktoria, a pig who is also the mayor of the island community, as well as a moose called Gustave, an ape called Angus, a duck called Amelia, and more. Now it's just a lottery every single time you play because you never know when the game will glitch out on you.Castaway Paradise sees you playing as a shipwreck survivor who has the good fortune to wash up on a pleasant little island populated by helpful, friendly – but odd-looking – animals who can talk. It could have been a nice and relaxing game if the developers actually bothered to finish it and test it for bugs. This whole practice of releasing unfinished games should really stop and we should not buy crap like this.

Don't waste your money on this garbage, unfinished product. It had potential but the bugs and glitches just completely ruin the fun. They should be ashamed that they released the game in this state. Sometimes characters just glitch out and can't give you quests anymore (it literally says 'test' then), other times you just can't remove certain tree stumps but then you can after going in and out of your house, other times the game just randomly levels you up 3 times in a row, other times quests just don't complete. The most random glitches keep happening at the most random moments in this game. I started 2 games (saves) and had to quit both of them because the game just completely glitched out. Even that I can forgive if the game would just be playable. It tries to be Animal Crossing but is far from it. What was supposed to give me a relaxing and laid back time quickly turned into a lot of frustration. In the end I played this game with my children and they really enjoyed it because it does have a few similarities to that of Animal Crossing so if you’re a fan of these types of game’s then you will thoroughly enjoy your time with this game and when it’s all said and done this game gets more than enough right to get a recommendation from me. It's one of those game’s that’s perfect to pass an hour or two here and there and it’s also a game that won’t cause you too much stress at all. There is some customisation present in the game but I found the customisation to be a little basic and in the end I was crying out for more. The game does suffer with a few technichal issues every now and then and whilst none of them are major issues they can still be quite annoying.
